Gosh... where do we start when it comes to bringing in the new year? It seems like some near impossible task of deciding what you want to do new for each coming year. Weight loss maybe? Start your own company? Perhaps. With some many possibilities it seems impossible to decide. And I definitely understand that struggle. It always feels like I have a billion and one ideas in my head waiting for me to execute. From a new way to recycle plastic bags and make it into filament for 3D printers, to a way to help people better manage their time. It's pretty tough.
When going through what I wanted to do this year I took a survey of what I had going this last year that I would like to build upon and grow. This site is definitely one that I have been wanting to grow. Especially with the decision to convert this simple blog into a way to help support my family. If you browsed the home page on the site, you can see ways that I have decided we're going to be best in making this site a source of passion and inspiration for the next few stages in life. With Oliver growing and my goodness is he growing; I needed something or someway really to express the joy and pain of fatherhood. But it didn't seem right to just tell my side of this.
Yes I know there are a million mommy blogs and dozens of other parenting blogs that seem to be the go to source for wisdom and inspiration for life. With associated Pinterest boards and amazon affiliate ads (like the new ads above) that generate income and a fierce fan base and following. Which of course brings on the droves of new writers and view points. All of this I hope to bring aboard to the Undercover Dad website.
Even more so, I really do want to bring in the perspective of my wife who is equally amazing but so much more passionate than I ever could be about the little things that make parenting so rewarding and just as frustrating. For instance sharing the ideas we have for Oliver's first birthday. And we are so excited because we are doing a monster theme. I know, cliché right? But let's be honest, those little monster cards and photo booths are amazing.
So all in all I hope people will enjoy the way I am changing the site, especially to bring new content. Being unemployed right now, I just need to keep at writing and inspiring dads and hopefully soon, mothers alike who seem to like the role of being their kids super hero. Those undercover moms and dads out there. Inspiring their children toward greatness.
And to support all this, in the coming weeks Elizabeth and I will be creating some lovely personal artwork to sell on the site. Typically for just a few dollars plus shipping and what not. But we hope you do enjoy it all. Maybe if we grow enough we will do some fun time lapse videos of us painting and such.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and please stay warm. It's cold through the US. Don't drive if you don't need to.
