It's interesting that no matter how much you work, you always seem to be short enough money to do this or that. There are times where I would really love a $15 minimum wage but realize that there is a reason I only get the wage that I do. And don't get me wrong, I make good money for not working in manufacturing where manufacturing is a huge source of income for many people here.
Upstate Greenville, SC is a heavily industrial area. There are plenty of well known companies producing millions even billions of dollars in revenue in the area. GE, BMW, Michelin, and the list goes on. But wages seem stagnant even if they are going up on an average of 2.5% year over year.
With a small amount of money every month, I pour my spare time into research the market and where it is growing. I invest very small sums of money into companies that I hope one day will generate a return for me that will be enough to do things like go on vacation or even just retiring.
One area that I invest time rather than money is my startup FullPlate. I work along side my friend and technical cofounder, Nazmus, to create a platform that will hopefully change the world. We haven't seen much traction yet, but we are persistent. They say you should try something for at least 18-24 months before moving onto a new project. And that is exactly what we are doing. We work hard knowing that our hard work might eventually turn a profit for a startup company with no monetary capital, no outside investments. Just sweat and hard work.
There are days, a lot of them, where I wish I could put myself full time into growing FullPlate. FullPlate is near and dear to me because of the mission it represents. Many people don't recognize the mission of a company by just visiting their website. Many discover it by digging into the founders. Meeting them. Talking to them. Getting to know what makes them tick and ultimately what drives them towards their goals of success.
Nazmus and I share this common goal of trying to make the world a better place. We see and experience the hate that seems to consume the world. I recall in conversations past with Nazmus talking about how difficult it was for him and his family after 9/11 for the way people looked at him and fellow Muslims. I see this pain that a few radicals caused people merely looking to make it by in this world. Without having to compromise their beliefs to be accepted.
I myself grew up being bullied in school. It came to a point where I ended up switching to an Online Public school because I could not stand being humiliated and picked on, on a daily basis. Since then I have wanted to change the world. The hate and warmongering in our world has to stop.
While we know we won't stop radicalism, we know that we can at least help keep people from hating each other based on color, religion or gender preference. Granted, we do not agree with everything people do, but what we agree is people should love others no matter what. We don't solve problems in our world by hating.
We want the world the be better connected. We want people to embrace their global neighbors. Our world is struggling enough. There is no need to pour salt into the wound and alienate people based off of a few radicals trying to divide the world. We don't want people to be overcome by sick and twisted views that segregate people by color, religion, gender preference or country of origin.
Because of this, we are working on FullPlate. FullPlateApp.com is the website we are using to promote the company. We are launching our mobile platforms this summer. We will be focusing on a specific area at our initial launch. If you want to know about our launch and how to participate outside of the launch area, please visit our website and signup for email updates. We will send information each week on our launch and any updates we have.
Thank you for your support of the Undercover Dad and FullPlate. Together, we might just make this world a better place.
